Art in Thy
Art in Thy offers both power and contemplation – from the new National Gallery of Denmark in Thy to smaller galleries and art halls along the north-west coast.

Discovery the art of Thy
Thy is not only known for its magnificent nature, but also for its vibrant art and cultural life. With the opening of the National Gallery of Denmark in Thy, the area has gained a new cultural beacon, where famous masterpieces are presented in interaction with the local identity and the wild landscape outside.
At the same time, you will find a wealth of galleries and art halls in the area, where both established artists and new talents exhibit their works. Here you can experience everything from contemporary art and installations to painting, sculpture and crafts, often inspired by the North Sea, the light and nature in Thy.

SMK Thy – Denmark's national gallery in new surroundings
With support from the A.P. Møller Foundation, the dream of a national gallery in Thy has become a reality. The building, designed by Reiulf Ramstad Architects, has been created as a meeting place where art, history and landscape merge.
The opening exhibition, The Journey from Paris, tells the story of how French modernism found its way to Denmark in the early 1900s through works by Matisse, Picasso, Derain, Braque and others.
SMK Thy will be a permanent exhibition venue under the National Gallery of Denmark and a new cultural powerhouse in Doverodde, where art experiences meet the tranquillity of nature right by the Limfjord.
