Herregården Odden is home to a collection of around 1,400 works by one of Denmark’s greatest artists, J.F. Willumsen (1863–1958). This fascinating collection of one of the most prominent figures in Danish art history offers a unique insight into Willumsen’s workshop and creative processes. The exhibition follows the creation of iconic works through countless preparatory studies that cover the manor’s walls from floor to ceiling. His works featuring world-famous motifs such as “Children Bathing at Skagen Beach” and “A Mountaineer” can be explored for hours.

Odden itself is a historic manor with origins dating far back in time. The current buildings date from the 16th century. The name “Odden” refers to the landscape in which it is situated—once a headland surrounded by water.

The estate’s lands once stretched all the way to Skagen and were owned by members of the high nobility. It is said that Odden was one of the few strongholds that Skipper Clement could not capture during the Count's Feud. Over time, the manor passed through several noble families before coming into private ownership in the 19th century. In 1989, the Victor Petersen Willumsen Collection Foundation took over the site. The royally chartered foundation was established more than 50 years ago, originally based in Ribe, and moved to Odden in 1989, where the collection has been exhibited ever since.

The café offers locally roasted coffee, Danish kringle, ice cream from Hebbestrupgård, chilled white wine, and other treats. Visitors inspired to be creative can purchase art supplies, books, postcards, and posters in the museum shop.

The collection is open to the public from April 1 to November 1 and also hosts events, courses, and concerts.
